Upload Kernel Memory Dump File
Step 3: Locate and upload the error report file
If your system was previously configured to save an error report file, you should have one available on your system to upload. Please read the following information, which will tell you more about this process, including technical requirements and our privacy policy, and help you find and upload the file if you choose to do so.
What to expect
Microsoft actively analyzes all error reports and prioritizes them based on the number of customers affected by the Stop error covered in the error report. We will try to determine the cause of the Stop error you submit, categorize it according to the type of issue encountered, and offer relevant analysis information. However, because error reports do not always contain enough information to positively identify the source of the issue, we might need to collect a number of similar error reports from other customers before a pattern is discovered, or follow up with you further to gather additional information. Furthermore, some error reports might require additional resources (such as a hardware debugger or a live debugger session) before we can find a solution. Although we might not be able to provide a solution for your particular Stop error, all information submitted is used to further improve the quality and reliability of Windows.
Privacy information
Before uploading your error report, review the Data Collection Policy.
Choose a file to upload
Your error report contains information about one crash event. If you have configured your computer to create an error report file, also known as a kernel memory dump file, when a Stop error occurs, click Browse to search for an error report to submit. By default, the file is named MEMORY.DMP and can be found in %systemroot% (typically C:\windows\).
Time required to upload an error report
The time required to upload a kernel memory dump file error report can vary from a few minutes to a few hours. The actual time depends on a number of factors, such as your computer hardware and Internet connection speed.
While uploading your error report, remain on this page and do not refresh or close your browser.
Note: The kernel dump upload ActiveX control does not support the 64-bit version of Microsoft Internet Explorer. If you are running either Windows XP 64-Bit Edition (Itanium) or Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, click Start, click All Programs, and then click the Internet Explorer (32-bit) icon to launch the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer. After you have launched your browser, visit the Microsoft Online Crash Analysis website.
